Managing Org. Effectiveness (MML603)

Many factors contribute to (or compromise) an organization’s effectiveness, but few are as impactful as the behaviors exhibited by the people who work in that organization.  Organizational behavior (OB) is a field of study that looks at the impact individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations with the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness.  A combination of psychology, sociology, anthropology, and other disciplines, OB examines topics that should be familiar to anyone who has ever worked in an organization.  These include:

·       Motivation

·       Power and authority

·       Change

·       Conflict

·       Leadership

While a comprehensive examination of OB would require many years of study, this course serves as a helpful overview for experienced adults looking to better understand today’s workplace and the human behavior that routinely occurs within it.
