I am looking forward to working closely with each of you over this course. I have a BSBA in Operations Management and Computer Science from Villanova University and an MBA in Finance from Saint Joseph's University. I worked as a Vice President in the banking industry for 13 years, working in both operations and retail.
I have been an instructor for Immaculata since 1995, where I have taught in the original ACCEL program, face to face and online programs. At that time I primarily taught Statistics and Marketing. I also acted as the Research Advisor for many groups completing that program. The primary courses I teach include Statistics and Research primarily within the Psychology and Business Departments as well as facilitating online courses. I also have had the honor to work with Immaculata on curriculum, course creation, and instructional design. In 2018, I began working full time at IU as the Director of Curriculum & Instruction within Academic Affairs. I am responsible for the curriculum and instruction of all online courses, but primarily those facilitated in the accelerated program under CAPS and CGS.

Best Practices for this Course:
It is my distinct pleasure to act as your facilitator for this course. I know the word Statistics can be rather intimidating, relax, we'll do great together! I am your biggest cheerleader and know you will do great.
Your required text is indicated on the syllabus and will be needed during week one. Please review what has been uploaded and become familiar with the course. All communication will be performed using Moodle and each student is responsible to check Moodle regularly for class materials, announcements, and updates. It is highly recommended that you stay diligent and meet all deadlines for the material builds from week to week and you can easily fall behind. Of particular note, students are required to use Google Sheets for this course. Homework assignments will be submitted using the statistical functions of this program. In the top section of your course, please find directions for getting started with Google Sheets. It will greatly benefit you with these problems if you take time in advance of the class to become familiar with the program and can hit the ground running.
All assignments must be posted timely as extensions are not permitted as the course material builds weekly and you can quickly find yourself in a bind if you fall behind.
Please note, discussion forum posts are vital to this course. Weekly, you will have discussion forums that will require a substantial initial post from each of you. As we have a small class, this course will run as an independent study and each forum will be worth 20 points for the Initial Post, no responses are required. The initial posts are due by Friday each week and will be graded soon there after. Initial posts made after Friday evening will not be graded. Please see both the submission schedule in your course the discussion board policy located in the Student Hub for further information.

Welcome! It is my distinct pleasure to act as your facilitator for this course. Outliers is a really interesting topic and I hope you enjoy our discussion. Please begin reading the book or listening to the audio book located in the Week 1 Overview as soon as possible. Students should expect to finish the required reading by the beginning of Week 2 to best engage in the course. As a 4 week course, things move quickly, but I hope you enjoy the ride!
