English 106 introduces the techniques of the writing process, and the refinement of individual language skills. Academic composition skills are emphasized, particularly expository and persuasive writing. Course readings provide ideas for writing essays and solving problems through critical thinking.  Individualized assignments encourage clear, correct, and forceful writing, as well as foster more comfort and confidence in writing.
